ArtMade is the teaching identity of the artist: Peter Gibson Smith. The general aim of the teaching is to instruct students and artists in some of the traditional material processes of painting without the constraints of traditional ideas about painting. As well as ancient materials like egg tempera, gesso and encaustic, classes also encompass modern tools like computer driven plotters and cutters.
The two classes offered are:
Old School/New School experimental painting with traditional materials.
This class is also offered as a week-long summer school from 5th - 9th January, 2011.
and
Vinyl Cutting for Artists a practical course in vinyl cutting, particularly for artists.
Located in the Auckland CBD, all classes are taught in a studio setting where work in progress can be left until the next session.
